Reflections Week 2

Reflections Week 2

This may make me little bias but one organization that I think we should all look at some time is the National Association of Special Education Teachers (NASET) is the only national membership organization dedicated solely to meeting the needs of special education teachers and those preparing for the field of special education teaching. But not only special education it’s a place where we can go and find out types of technology that can help students as I stated earlier in my blog everyone has some type of disability and if the teachers home in on that disability we can make a better impact on the students education. In addition, this brings us to the main topic of students with disabilities we look at assistive technology. Its an umbrella term that includes assistive, adaptive, and rehabilitative devices for people with disabilities and also includes the process used in selecting, locating, and using them

Another organization is very important to help align us with other countries and ensure that if there is technology in another part of the work we are interacting with that technology as well for example Facebook and Google are a notional technology that is used all around the world. The organization International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE®) is put in place just to do that it is a nonprofit professional organization with a worldwide membership of leaders and potential leaders in educational technology. We are dedicated to providing leadership and service to improve teaching and learning by advancing the effective use of technology in K–12 education and teacher education.

And of course we cannot forget EDUCAUSE this is an all in one type organization that brings any new technology in higher education and brings it to lite as well as hold conferences and post jobs in those fields of technology.

The Impact of Technology

The positive and negative impacts of education technology, there are many educational dynamics that have been changes when moving into the technology realm. The new structure with technology at the driver’s seat teachers are not the knowledge bowl of the classroom , instead of  a passive sponge soaking up knowledge the students are not able to learn interactive and retain knowledge in real time.

The pros of technology is that it has been accepted by so many institutions and it helps bring full time working individuals to the web using some type of social technology to teach them. There are three main roles that education technology brings to the table. The first one is Change in the roles of students and teachers: Students become actively involved in the process of education rather than the traditional passive roles students assumed. The teacher, instead of being the center of attention, becomes a facilitator of the means by which students learn using modern technology. The second one is Motivation and improved self-esteem: Students become more motivated when using technology because it relates to their everyday life and they can see practical implementation of what they learn in the class. The third one is Technical Skills, teamwork, improved use of outside resources, improved design skills/attention to audience.

The cons of technology in education are that we separate the students form a Briggs and morder type structure. And the students miss some of the key features and activities because the student will be in front of a computer a cell phone or smart phone. The lines are no so clear in the cons to pros of education and technology but the trend starts in the digital revolution hit generation z, also known as the digital generation of youth with a new way of interacting with the world and with their own identities. Social networking websites, such as Facebook are tools by which the digital generation as a means of assessing their culture

My Educational Technology Philosophy

My education philosophy is as much technology that we can use to get more information out to the student we are teaching the better. The technology should not be complicated and get in the way of the student learning. And most of all we as teachers and educators need to teach our students in w a way that he or she learns the world is changing and the technology is changing we need to residual enough to change with  the technology.

Review of Educational Blogging Article

After reading many teaching philosophies, I believe that we need to teach the students exactly what they need to know but introduce them to more technology to get them more in touch with the world on a professional level. I think blogging is not ready for younger students because the individuals will treat it like a text message or Facebook post. This is not professional and  until we can trading and teach the students to wire professionally we will be making more work for us as teachers and taking away from the learning experience of the student.
